AUTUMN SONG

October is my favorite month of the year. It is a joy when the leaves change and all the life forms are active in preparation for the coming winter.

The best thoughts of the human perspective seem to emerge in those times when man ponders his own mortality. Everyone with the gift of sight has seen the moon on an autumn night.

From every walk of life we travel the roads of life, heading inexorably toward eternity and what it might bring for us. Autumn is the sentinel that reminds us of this experience. But there are other joys - the sunsets, the romance in the sparkling eyes of the one you love when fall nips the air.

These are enhanced by the knowledge that, even though the trees shed their leaves and the birds go off to more suitable venues, they will be back and so will we unless we are whisked off to our final venue, which will be the supreme springtime.
