These are not the oldest country songs I can remember by a long shot. While I was attending Junior High School in Mt. Pleasant, my Grandfather Barrett bought a Baldwin piano dealership and stocked a small warehouse with Baldwin Acrosonic pianos.

He had one delivered to the Broadway Café where his restaurant was well known for serving chicken fried steak made with baby veal and very classy plate lunches to iron ore workers who would drive in from nearby Daingerfield, Texas (17 miles from Mt. Pleasant near the Louisiana border) and the oil fields of Talco, Texas (about 14 miles North of Mt. Pleasant and just South of the Oklahoma border).
A bowl of "red" (chili) was 35 cents and with free catsup and crackers, could easily be stretched into a very filling meal. I think my Papa lost money on those bowls of chili!
